(Mankato, MN) – The public is invited to attend an open house on Thursday night to learn about upcoming construction on Highway 22 between Mapleton and Mankato.
The event will be from 5:30 to 7:30 at the DuPont Pioneer Research Facility, 19456 Highway 22, Mankato. MnDOT will provide information, detour and construction staging maps, and staff on-site to answer questions for the three Highway 22 projects.
The first stretch of construction from Highway 22 in Mapleton to Blue Earth County Road 15 is scheduled to restart April 16. This phase of Highway 22 construction on the north side of Mapleton is an extension of 2017 construction that was completed from Mapleton to County Road 10 at Beauford.
Work is scheduled to begin in May on the safety project at Highway 22 and County Road 90, which includes construction of a roundabout at the intersection. The project also includes the addition of left turn lanes into residential areas north and south of County Road 90 and a structural snow fence in the northwest corner to reduce drifting.
Throughout the spring and summer work will continue along Highway 22 for the Victory Drive Memorial Corridor project. The majority of the 2018 work will focus on the removal of trees, clearing and grubbing, in preparation for landscaping selected by a steering committee.
