Girl Escapes Attempted Assault at Mankato Park, Police Ask for Help to ID Suspect

(Mankato, MN) – Mankato police are searching for the suspect in the attempted assault of a girl on Wednesday night.

The 14-year-old girl was walking through Ray Erlandson Park around 8:30pm when a man grabbed her and told her to come with him.  The teen was able to break free from his grasp and ran, and was able to make it home safely

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s with a thin, yet muscular build. He’s about 5’6″, has shoulder-length dreadlocks and a chinstrap beard. A word written in cursive is tattooed on the right side of his neck.

The suspect wore a black zip-up hoodie and knee-length black jean shorts. He had diamond stud earrings in both ears, was wearing a plain gold necklace and wore a large digital watch on his left wrist.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as a silver/gray four-door sedan.
