(Mankato, MN) – Workers at a women’s clothing store in Mankato will be digging even deeper into their wallets to cover their health care premiums in 2018.
Open enrollment at Sticks and Stones just wrapped up and the cost of coverage this year is up 139% from 2017. It’s the third triple-digit premium increase in as many years.
Management at Sticks and Stones blames a streak of bad luck, with at least one employee breaking a bone annually since the store opened on North Riverfront Drive in 2003.
“And last year alone…Pam had a separated shoulder, Celia cracked her pinky toe and Becky fractured her tibia.”
Meantime, at the Mankato-based purveyor of words, Amicus Publishing, health care costs continue to shrink as there’s never been a report of someone being hurt.
This is part of an occasional series of attempted satire by SMT. Previous pieces can be found here.
