(Mankato, MN) – Already dealing with flood damage, residents in southern Minnesota now are being targeted by scammers.
Authorities say some people who were affected by the flooding of recent weeks are now getting calls from scammers claiming to be from FEMA. The callers are asking for personal information and saying that people need to send them money to be put on their list for damage cleanup.
Authorities say this is not true, that FEMA will not call you, nor will they ask for money.
Anyone who receives such a call is told to contact their local police department or sheriff’s office.
