(Mankato, MN) – A 25-year-old man from Lake Crystal is behind bars after allegedly leading police on a chase from Mankato to Madelia.
The Mankato Department of Public Safety says an officer stopped Andrew McGuire’s vehicle around 1:20 this morning (Wednesday) near the intersection of South Broad and Cherry Streets. After briefly stopping, McGuire who had a passenger in his vehicle – took off and led police on a chase.
The pursuit ended when McGuire was arrested on a farm near Madelia (Highway 60 and County Road 9) after his vehicle struck two police vehicles. Both police vehicles were towed from the scene.
A Mankato police officer, in one of the vehicles that was struck, suffered minor injuries – to his ribs and hand – and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
McGuire’s criminal history includes about 10 convictions for drug offenses, drunk driving, theft and burglary.
Assisting the Mankato Department of Public Safety, were officers from Lake Crystal, Madelia, the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Department.
