(Mankato, MN) – A 37-year-old Mankato man is facing a felony charge of theft after allegedly breaking into a liquor store and taking a single bottle of booze.

Police say they were called on April 14th after a man kicked out the front door glass at a North Mankato liquor store and stole a bottle of Jim Beam Apple.

The investigating officer took a surveillance photo around town and staff at Riverside Suites identified him as James Harris Lueck, who had checked in a few days earlier.

During questioning, police say Lueck told them he had been blackout drunk for days and didn’t remember taking the booze, but admitted he was the person in the surveillance photo. Lueck had a blood alcohol level of .341 and was taken to detox.

The bottle of Jim Beam was valued at $20.99. Damage to the liquor store door was more than $400.
