(Mankato, MN) – A 37-year-old Mankato woman stands accused or driving drunk with two young children in her car.
According to the complaint against Josephine Dawley, police responded to a report of a possible impaired driver last Thursday night on South Front Street. The responding officer later located the vehicle, its engine still warm, at a gas station on Stoltzman Road.
Dawley then came out of the gas station stumbling and swaying – with the kids, ages 8 and 10. Police say Dawley initially denied consuming alcohol, saying through slurred speech that she was a Type 2 diabetic.
After failing field sobriety tests, a portable blood test was administered and Dawley had a blood alcohol level of .15, nearly double the legal limit.
In Minnesota last year, about 100 people were killed in alcohol related car crashes.
