(Mankato, MN) – A 46-year-old Mankato woman stands accused of welfare fraud.

Lynn Marie Daniels is charged with one felony count of wrongfully obtaining assistance-theft.

According to the complaint, when applying for public assistance such as Section 8 housing benefits, Daniels claimed that the father of two of her children did not live with them, but police say he was listed on the lease and had signed it. The monthly rent was $1,420.

Police say because of the false information, Daniels fraudulently obtained public assistance  benefits from Blue Earth County in the amount of $9,320.
