(Mapleton, MN) – A 32-year-old woman from Mapleton was hospitalized after allegedly fleeing police and crashing into a police vehicle late Thursday night.

The State Patrol says April May Valliant was being pursued by Le Sueur County authorities after they witnessed her driving in the wrong lane of traffic on Highway 112 and she refused to stop for emergency lights.

Valliant continued driving erratically at speeds over 100 mph, going down the road from side to side and then down into the ditch. The deputy entered the ditch as well and the two vehicles collided. The crash happened northeast of Le Sueur at County Roads 117 and 28 just before 11:30pm Thursday.

Valliant was taken to Ridgeview Hospital in Le Sueure for evaluation then brought to jail pending charges of careless driving, fleeing police and drug possession.

The driver of the Le Sueur County Squad car, 37-year-old deputy Joseph Kern of Le Center, was not hurt.
