(Mankato, MN) – A student at Minnesota State University Mankato remains hospitalized after suffering life-threatening injuries in a fall from a balcony.

According to a GoFundMe campaign to help with medical expenses, Anthony Thielk was celebrating his 23rd birthday on Saturday when he fell 25 feet to the ground. Reports say that it appears alcohol was a factor.

Thielk suffered skull fractures and bleeding of the brain, while the full extent of his injury has not yet been determined.

Thielk is in his Senior year at MSU and was on pace to graduate in the spring with a communications degree.

The fundraiser has thus far raised about $16,000. Among those who have reached out through the campaign are the parents of Isaac Kolstad, who say “please reach out to us if you have questions, concerns, or just want to talk to a family that has been thru the traumatic brain injury experience.

Kolstad suffered a TBI when he was assaulted in downtown Mankato in 2014.
