(New Ulm, MN) – A 17-year-old from New Ulm stands accused of blackmailing a girl by threatening to share nude photos of her.
Kilasiku Shaheed Graham Jr. is charged with two counts of coercion and one count of theft by swindle.
According to the complaint, the victim told police that she sent three sexually explicit photos of herself to a person on Snapchat. She was later contacted by a 14-year-old who said he had the photos and would forward them to others and put them on adult websites, unless she paid him.
The girl feared that he would follow through on the threats, so she ended up paying $4,500 to Graham, who was a friend of the 14-year-old.
Police were eventually tipped off and set up a sting, where the girl gave Graham $700 in pre-recorded cash. Graham was arrested after the exchange. During questioning, with his mother present, police say Graham told them he was just the middle man and he saw his 14-year-old friend earlier that night and was going to give him the money.
However, a probation agent was called and put on speaker phone and said that was impossible because the other boy was currently in juvenile detention. Police say at that point, Graham’s mother got angry and ended the interview.
