(Mankato, MN) – The 52-year-old man who was behind the wheel in the hit and run of a pedestrian in Mankato last year is now behind bars.
Michael John Muellerleile of North Mankato reported to jail last Thursday after receiving a six month sentence for his conviction for “Criminal Vehicular Operation – Great Bodily Harm – Driver Who Causes Collision Leaves Scene.” With good behavior, Muellerliele will be out on June 28th.
Muellerleile struck 62-year-old Todd Bauman of Mankato on January 13, 2017, at the intersection of North Second and Washington streets and then fled the scene.
Bauman suffered a broken back, a broken leg, a broken arm, a whiplashed neck, and bleeding on the brain and was airlifted to Rochester.
Muellerleile turned himself in a few days after the accident, and claimed he didn’t stop right away because he didn’t have insurance.
Muellerliele’s criminal history includes two convictions for drunk driving, in 1996 and 2004.
