Olympic Hero to Visit Hometown of Mapleton

(Mapleton, MN) – A Mapleton native who took home a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea is planning a visit to his hometown next week.

John Landsteiner, who played lead for the U.S. Men’s Team Curling event, will speak at Maple River Schools about growing up in Mapleton and his passion for the sport of curling.

Landsteiner will also visit area Pioneer Bank locations. That includes an open house, meet & greet at the Pioneer Bank in Mapleton on Tuesday, April 3rd from 10a-2p. The open house is free and open to the public and will include a light lunch provided by Maggie J’s.

Landsteiner and the U.S. men’s curing team beat Sweden to take the gold medal, only the second ever medal for America in curling.
