(Mankato, MN) – A 56-year-old man from Eagle Lake is facing criminal charges after an alleged case of road rage.
Scott Schaible is accused of stalking and reckless driving. He’s due to make his first court appearance next month.
According to the complaint, Schaible was on Highway 14 west, outside of Mankato, on July 16th when he got “pissed off” because he thought the victim was driving to fast. Schaible then allegedly drove beside the victim and tried to force him off the road.
Both vehicles stopped and Schaible then allegedly came running at the victim’s Jeep, waving his hands as if he wanted to fight. The victim drove off, clipping the bumper of Schaible’s vehicle as he did and Schaible gave chase.
Schaible then allegedly used his truck as a roadblock near the Walmart Distribution Center and as the victim had to stop, Schaible again exited his truck and hit the victim’s vehicle with his hand.
The victim again took off until he was cornered by Schaible in a cul-de-sac near Menards and Schaible again got out of his vehicle and allegedly said “I’m going to f*cking kill you.”
Responding officers came upon the scene and say the victim was visibly shaken and trembling.
Police say Schaibel, who had his son in his vehicle, admitted to the events, except he claims he didn’t threaten to kill the victim. This because he knew that would be considered a felony and he’s currently on felony probation for drug sales and pornography possession.
