(Mankato, MN) – It was a costly proposition, times two, for a male prostitute who refused to take a check from a client in Mankato.

In addition to not getting compensated for his sexual services, 35-year-old Robrese Carter was ordered to pay nearly $300 in fines and fees after pleading guilty to prostitution and theft. Carter was also sentenced to a year probation and 9 days in jail, which he had already served.

It was April 24th when Carter and a 22-year-old Mankato man connected through a social media dating app and the man agreed to pay Carter $100 for intercourse.

The two met at a downtown hotel and after Carter “provided services,” the man tried to get $100 from an ATM to pay Carter – but he was declined due to insufficient funds. The man then wrote Carter a check, but Carter wouldn’t accept that as payment.

The two then got into a verbal argument and Carter grabbed the man’s eyeglasses off his face and took off. The man called police and Carter ended up in the Blue Earth County Jail.

The other man was never arrested or charged.
