(Pine Island, MN) – A school bus driver from southeastern Minnesota has lost his job after allegedly being drunk while behind the wheel.
Thirty-nine-year-old Beau Jason Twaddle of Pine Island is charged with four counts of driving while intoxicated, including “DWI – Alcohol Related School Bus Driving.”
According to the complaint, a resource officer at the Pine Island High School detected the odor of alcohol while talking with Twaddle on the morning of April 10th. A deputy was called to the school and questioned Twaddle, who denied drinking that morning. Twaddle said he did have a vodka water and a beer around 6:00 the night before.
A preliminary breath test put Twaddle’s blood alcohol level at .10. The deputy reported Twaddle also had some issues with field sobriety tests and he was taken to detox.
Surveillance video from that morning shows that there were 58 kids on Twaddle’s bus.
Twaddle, who held the title of transportation director for Pine Island schools, is no longer employed by the district.
