(St. Peter, MN) – A 20-year-old St. Peter man stands accused of having sexual contact with a teenage tennis player whom he was coaching.
Kieran Dan Townsend is charged with two felony counts of criminal sexual conduct. He’s due to make his first court appearance on October 2nd.
According to the complaint, investigators with St. Peter and Le Sueur Police recently met with the alleged victim and her parents, along with representatives of “a college.”
The victim reported that she had sexual contact last summer with Townsend, who was her tennis coach/counselor at the Tennis and Life Camps. She had just turned 15-years-old at the time of the sexual contact, and he was aware of her age.
The sexual contact included the touching of her breasts and digital penetration “in the front and back.” It happened on two occasions while they were in a car in the city of Le Sueur – near the High School and also near the home of the girl’s grandmother.
Police say when Townsend was questioned, he admitted to the sexual contact and said because of her age “it would never happen again.”
While the complaint only says “a college,” Gustavus Adolphus holds Tennis and Life Camps each summer – and the address listed on the Townsend complaint is 800 College Avenue West, which is the location of Gustavus.
There is also social media showing Kieran Townsend was an instructor at the camps and the GAC website shows he’s a member of the tennis team, with the page mentioning that he’s a graduate of Mankato West High School.
