(Owatonna, MN) – A 53-year-old man is facing felony drug charges after allegedly being busted in Steele County with 200 pounds of pot.

According to the complaint, a State Trooper pulled over 53-year-old Steven Lee on Wednesday (May 9) on Interstate 35 near Owatonna. The stop was made because the Trooper noticed a four-year-old child in the pickup who was not properly restrained.

Due to the strong odor of “raw marijuana” detected by the Trooper and K9 Diesel, the truck was towed back to the state shop in Owatonna. A subsequent search turned up 200 pounds of marijuana.

It appears that Lee, of Brooklyn Park, had brought the weed from California, as that’s where the truck was registered. Authorities also say that inside the vehicle was a California-issued medical marijuana grow operation certificate.
