(Eagan, MN) – It’s apparently not just cats that have nine lives.

A dog that broke through the ice while chasing ducks at Wescott Station Park in Eagan is safe thanks to some help from a firefighter. The firefighter crawled out onto the thin ice and the dog was able to free itself and make it to shore.

Eagan police say the incident is a great reminder that ice is thin and there are areas of open water despite the unusually cold spring!
